I began dance training at the age of five, studying classical Russian, Cechetti and Bournonville techniques. I supplemented these studies with classes in tap, jazz, modern, and interpretive dance and was offered an audition with the American School of Ballet at the age of eight. I owned and operated a dance school where I taught ballet, jazz, tap, and adult exercise classes. I have written two books on the history of dance for young dance students, ages 8-12.
The first book that was offered in ebook format relates the story of Maria Taglioni and the rise of the ballerina. The second ebook concerns the life of King Louis XIV and the establishment of the first professional ballet school which is still in existence today.
As an adult, I studied Kwon Bup Hard Style Korean Karate in which I hold a black belt and Eagle Dragon Chinese Kenpo Kung Fu in which I earned a green belt. I have taught martial arts for more than twenty five years.
While Program Supervisor at a local assisted living community, I developed a program of seated T’ai Chi Chuan based on the Yang short form. This exercise system was so successful with the elderly and disabled that I wrote a book describing the program. Fair Winds Press, a division of Rockport Publishing Company, bought T’ai Chi in a Chair and published it in June 2001. The book has recently been released in ebook format at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and the Scribd Store.
My latest book on seated Taiji and Qigong exercises was published by Singing Dragon, an imprint of the Jessica Kingsley Publishing Co. in London. This book was released in the UK and other countries in February 2012. The book was released in the US in March of the same year. It is available in both print and ebook format.
I have continued to teach both seated and standard T’ai Chi and Qigong to people of all ages and levels of fitness including severely mentally ill adults at a local mental health center. I write a blog of seated exercises at Chair Tai Chi and my Tai Chi website at Healing Tai Chi.
Although retired from teaching ballet, tap and jazz, I remain very interested in that field as well. I write a blog for young children about ballet,
